GT is uniquely well positioned to approach myogenesis or SMR-related problems, because in addition to the vast amount of available regulatory factors, the sequence and temporal release into the microenvironment also affects muscle generation (Table 4.1) [128]. As far as regulatory factor categories go, net stimulatory members include IGF1/IGF2, HGF, VEGF, FGF 2/FGF6, PDGF AA, and PDGF BB, and net inhibitory members include myostatin, TGF-α and TGF-β1, and BMPs (all members of TGF-β superfamily) [118].
